"Progressive, independent, non-profit radio station founded in 1978 in Nevada City, CA transmits at 89.5 MHz FM and via a translator on Mt. Pluto that covers Truckee, CA and the northern end of the Lake Tahoe region at 105.1 MHz FM. KVMR also streams their live on-air broadcast 24/7 via their web site at kvmr.org.

KVMR has over 150 volunteer broadcasters with wide ranging tastes and expertise, a large cadre of event and office volunteers and a small staff. Funding for KVMR's operation comes from listeners, underwriters, modest income from events such as festivals, and grants".
