Teachers are still feeling the effects of the pandemic years later, contributing to reduced retention rates and the teacher shortage in Louisiana and across the country.
Mayor Ellis said the city is actively talking to local businesses about their needs and the progression of the development district to keep residents and visitors shopping locally; in addition to making the district more attractive so businesses can have the desire to stay and build in the city.
According to the City of Monroe, Beauregard Street will be closed from its intersection at South 2nd Street to its intersection at Florida Street to repair a sewer manhole.
Nestled in the back of the First West Thrift Store is an assembly line that would make Henry Ford proud. One stitch at a time, the Sew Happy Ladies in Northeast Louisiana are leaving a mark.
“We are excited to see the I-20 rail project moving forward with the additional funding from the FRA to SRC,” Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis said. “This will ultimately affect Monroe and the rail connections across the I-20 corridor. This funding puts SRC one step closer to its long-term efforts in making passenger rail a reality across North Louisiana. We look forward to collaborating with them more in the future.”
